Skokholm Lighthouse is located on Skokholm Island, just off the southwest coast of Pembrokeshire, Wales.
This small island is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is owned and managed by the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales and is the site of the United Kingdom’s first bird observatory.
The Lighthouse was built by Trinity House in 1916, to safeguardships travelling along this stretch of coastline into Milford Haven or up the Bristol Channel.
Although keepers no longer live at the station, Skokholm Island is still inhabited as the bird sanctuary attracts ornithologists from all over the world to visit the specially built hide and study the rare and unusual bird life.
Skokholm Lighthouse was automated in 1983.
