A Bit of History

Watch Hill Lighthouse, situated at the western tip of Watch Hill in Westerly, has been guiding ships since 1808. The current granite tower, built in 1856, stands at 45 feet and overlooks the Block Island Sound. Watch Hill Lighthouse is an active aid to navigation and is known for its red lantern room and white tower. It remains a prominent feature of the coastal landscape and a cherished symbol of maritime history in Rhode Island.
