The Low Lighthouse, also known as the East Lighthouse, is no longer operational. It was discontinued in 1848 when the Tayport Pile Lighthouse replaced it.
Designed by Robert Stevenson, and built by Dundee’s own Trinity House in 1823, the east or lower lighthouse measures 12m in height. Above the door of the cottage there is a plaque saying ‘1823 Erected by the Corporation of the Trinity House Dundee William Nicoll Esquire Master’
