“I’m looking at the river, but I’m thinking of the sea.” Randy Newman’s lyrics could well have been written for the tower of Lloyd. 20 km inland at Kells, county Meath, the tower was in fact built in the style of a lighthouse, but as a viewing platform for the Earl to see his ships coming in at Carlingford and to view the horse racing nearby.
