A Note from the Artist

One of 4 lighthouses in the Dover Harbour, the Lighthouse is located at the west end of the Prince of Wales Pier in Dover Harbour.

The Pier was designed by Sir John Coode, KCMG (1816-1892) in 1890-92 and completed after his death to designs by Coode, Son and Mathews.

The foundation stone was laid on 20 July 1893 by Edward Prince of Wales, after whom it was named, and completed on 31 May 1902.

The lighthouse has a focal plane of 14m with a very quick flashing green light. The 14m high circular stone tower with lantern and gallery is a popular end point for walkers along the pier.
